I first got connected to the internet with a local Internet Service Provider, Internet Nebraska on February 27, 1996. I tried several other ISPs, all the while keeping my Internet Nebraska account active. Internet Nebraska is still my ISP today via a cable modem -- quite a change from the 14.4 k connection I started with!
It wasn't long until I discovered that I could choose what my 'home page' was and that it could even be a file on my own computer! I never did like the 'favorites' feature of Netscape, so I started creating my own personal home page by writing code in a plain text editor. So, really, all my web site is, is a set of links that I use on a semi-regular basis. I've broken down and started using the 'Favorites' feature of my browser and if I find myself using a link from there often, it winds up somewhere in my web site.
